The Skycar® 400 is the 5th generation of VTOL aircraft developed by Dr. Paul Moller and is now in the “operational prototype” stage. The Skycar® combines the high-speed capabilities of a fixed wing aircraft with the vertical take-off and landing capabilities of a helicopter.

The Moller Skycar is a flying car with VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) capability which has been under development by Paul Moller for over fifty years. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] As of 2023, the M400 has not achieved free flight.

The Skycar family of vehicles include versions for 2, 4, or 6 persons. Capable of vertical take-off and landing similar to a helicopter, and flies from point of departure to destination much like an airplane. The Skycar has been designed to also travel at low speed for short distances on the ground like an automobile.

With safety and ease of use built into every Skycar®, this volantor promises to become a revolutionary new form of transportation. Moller is currently working with the FAA to obtain certification of the Neuera 200.

Skycar® 400 conventional powertrain or hybrid-electric VTOL passenger prototype aircraft The Skycar® 400 is a 5th generation VTOL passenger full-scale prototype aircraft that is powered by a conventional engine or could also be powered by a hybrid-electric power source.

This innovative vehicle, called the M400 Skycar, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 375 MPH (about 600 kmph). Since it is airborne, the Skycar is not restricted by road speed limits or by traffic jams.
