2024年12月17日 · As all-around players, they were roughly equals, but during the straight pool era, Sigel and Mizerak were the two best and when the game transitioned to the 9ball era, Sigel and Strickland were the two best. A player must be judged by performance in the major disciplines of his day, and that's why I cannot quite put Nick in a category with Sigel.

2024年12月16日 · Cue making did take Sigel out a bit earlier. But I can't think of a World or U.S. Open straight pool tournament that Varner has won, whereas Sigel has several over the decades. Not to digress, but the matchup I would have liked to see was a Mike Sigel in his prime, probably early 80s, against Luther Lassiter, probably about 1960 to 1965 or so.

2003年6月16日 · I met Mike in the Greenway in Baton Rouge in 1974 and have gambled with and against him sense. Everyone has bad days but Mike Sigel is a lot of fun, has a great personality and from other people I know makes a great cue. With a handle like "Jo Mama" one would assume that this guy looks for the worst in everyone and enjoys starting trouble.

2024年12月16日 · Sigel in his prime was a complete ball-making monster. Nick the Gum Smacker would have put the 'wedge' on Mike is the reason i like Nick by a nose in 1p. That slow bunt-n-hide shit would have driven Mike insane.

2024年12月16日 · Being a DC area resident for all this time, I saw a great deal of Mike Sigel, not so much of Nick Varner. Both were and are great all-around players. I just don't recall Varner finishing as high as Sigel in most tournaments. I would agree, I think Sigel called it quits maybe a little earlier than Varner, certainly earlier than Strickland or Reyes.

2024年12月17日 · Rempe was an elite pattern player at both straight pool and 9ball and was, by the way, an early influence of Ralf Souquet. Those of us who watched prime Mike Sigel often call him the "greatest closer we have ever watched." but if Rempe had a weakness, it was that he was not a great closer, and it often meant a lot of second and third place ...
Mike Sigel Custom cue. - AzBilliards Forums
2021年2月22日 · Mike Sigel retired from pool because of lack of money in pool. He worked with a cuemaker and began making cues. Using his name, they sold for an unbelievable amount for really just simple cnc type inlayed cues. The folks that bought them for 3-5K couldnt sell them for $1K and took a real bath on them.
which cue shaft and tip is Mike Sigel using? - AzBilliards Forums
2012年1月29日 · Since Mike Sigel has been a cue maker and made numerous custom cues over the years, I am going to work on the assumption that any cue and shaft that he uses in his own play is mostly likely one's that he made himself for himself.

2024年12月16日 · Nick just happened to be part of a generation that included Mike Sigel and Steve Mizerak, plus Earl and Buddy. Maybe the fact that Nick was so low key had an effect on my perception. I knew he was a great player but I never felt like he was one of the favorites in the biggest pool tournaments (9-Ball or One Pocket).

2024年12月17日 · I don't think we are disagreeing, maybe I was just being a little charitable toward Efren. My point was Efren just kept playing while the original cast of characters like Sigel, Varner, Hall, Rempe, Parica, and a few others retired …
