Mike Alger is an American Meteorologist/Author working with KTVN News Channel 2 where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He has been working with the station since May 1989. Further, he has served the station for more than 3 decades.

May 26, 2024 · Mike Alger has been the chief meteorologist at 2 News Nevada for 35 years and is retiring at the end of May. He sat down with Arianna Bennett recently and spoke about some of the highlights of his career, as well as his plans for retirement.

Sep 16, 2021 · Channel 2 Meteorologist Mike Alger joined KTVN-TV in May, 1989. Prior to that Mike had worked at KNDU-TV in Washington. Mike has provided northern Nevada "Weather Coverage You Can Count On" during the 1990 President's Day Blizzard, the drought in the mid- 1990s, the New Year's Flood of 1997 and the historic Snowstorms of 2005.

After more than 30 years at 2 News, Chief Meteorologist Mike Alger announced his retirement at the conclusion of 2 News' Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive. He will be stepping down at the end of May. Watch his announcement here.
