MG Y-type - Wikipedia
The MG Y-Type is an automobile produced by MG in England from 1947 to 1953. It was offered in four-door saloon and limited production open four-seat tourer versions. When production ceased, 8,336 "Y" Types had been produced, 6,131 of which were "YA" saloons, 904 were "YT" Tourers and 1,301 were "YB" saloons.

The Y Type was the third MG saloon car of a series ready for the market just before WW2 started. The first was the huge MG SA saloon based on the Wolseley 18/80; the second was the middle model VA based on the Wolseley 12/14; the third was the small YA based on the Morris/Wolseley 8/4 with then engine of the 10/4.

It is an overhead-valve (OHV) unit of 1250cc giving out 46 brake-horse-power on the ‘Y’, and 54bhp on the ‘T’ series. The easiest way to tell a YA from a YB is to look at the rear wings. The YA has bigger wheels, so the wing is shallower.

Models of the MG Y Type or "What to buy the man who has (almost) everything" There have been many models made of MGs throughout the last 70 years, however not even a handful of manufacturers have bothered with the Y Type. The only four manufacturers that I know of are DG, RAE, MG Car Club Y Type Register, and the most recent by Lansdowne.
