2013年7月20日 · I have a 2005 Mercury Optimax 175. This is the problem: when trying to get up on plane, motor runs great until I hit approximately 2500 rpm at which time, it instantly shuts off. It will crank right back up immediately and run great for hours as long as I don't go over 2500 rpm.

Recently replaced throttle position sensor (the warning light indicated TPS problem) that warning has gone but idle problem still exists. There is no reduction in perfomance or fuel economy.

Took off vst replaced all fuel pumps, even the small one behind it. New Plugs water pump , trim pump, drained entire fuel tank, cables sc1000 gauges etc etc etc. Motor was running fine.
