2022年12月31日 · Now at the side where the user will have the megger get jumper cables and connect all of the cables to a long piece of bare copper EXCEPT disconnect one from that shorted bundle. That is the conductor under test. Connect the bundled set to "ground" by use of another jumper. Connect the "black" lead of the megger to the bundled set.

I like to do megger testing of conductors as per IEEE/ANSI ATS 2013 which says that for cables rated 600V and above to test at 1000VDC for 1 min. They also give a table to say what the minimum acceptable value is for the insulation resistance test.

Most medium voltage cables though just get 5 kV because few companies have a higher voltage Megger. The primary use is motor testing and 5 kV is the top of the chart for those. The motor insulation test uses lower voltages.

2016年2月9日 · A megger will use a fixed voltage across the insulation (250V for 120/240 systems, 1000V for 480/600 systems, etc) and indicate the insulation resistance value (megohms) while a dielectric test uses a voltage that you will ramp up until the built-in trip setting (usually 1 mA) stops the test!
