MasterCam solidworks 2016 file problem WS By Wayne Schafer 05/03/16 I have updated to Solidworks 2016 SP3 and when I try to open a solidworks file in Master Cam X9 update 3 I get the following:

I was working with SW2010, created a model and brought it into surfcam and mastercam without any problem. Surfaces and wireframe came up perfectly. I wnet about my merry way creating 5 or 6 more models of parts, but upgraded to SW2011 and used the new version to finish the project.

It has come to my attention that Mastercam is not recognizing if SolidWorks 08 files have different configurations. (Opening .SLDPRT files) If you were to open a SW 07 in Mastercam, MC will ask you what configuration you would like to work with as an option.

Does anyone have any thing positive to say about the mastercam direct add-in. I have not been successful in trying to use this at all. I need to bring the history into mastercam not just the solid.

I am currently receiving training at Central Carolina Community College in Regards to MasterCam X4 and I am excited about the blending of SolidWorks and MasterCam X4, in particular, Feature Based Milling and Feature Based Drilling. Currently I am using the SolidWorks 2008-2009 student version at home and I have added Mastercam Direct to my toolbar.
