Mahogany Cutting Board?? - FineWoodworking
2007年3月7日 · I agree that mahogany is not a very durable cutting board, but it is their choice. Applying products to harden the board is not a good idea in terms of food safe finishes. If you want to suggest a wood that is a better choice, try to find and choose some jatoba that is in the right colour tones. Some people call it South American cherry.

Restoring an Olive Wood Cutting Board - sawmillcreek.org
2022年11月25日 · Love mahogany but some of it has some white chalky stuff in it that can actually roll around ,and to me using mahogany for a cutting board would be like using a leather jacket for a WELCOME mat. Friends are sometimes suspicious of non-white cutting boards, and they are always sure that your cutting board is not as clean as their cutting board.
White oak for cutting board???? - Sawmill Creek
2003年7月14日 · I made a wooden cutting board 3/4" thick from maple and mahogany. Has held up pretty well over the past 3 years. When the board started to look too well "used", I just ran it thru the planer, recoated it with some salad bowl oil and it looked brand new. Sure it is slightly thinner but you can't tell.
Padouk for cutting boards - sawmillcreek.org
2006年9月10日 · I think using Padauk for a cutting board isn't a good choice. You site one reason--the bleed. When damp like a cutting board is subject to, it will continue. Another reason is some people are allergic to the dust. Yet another is the wood is a bit splintery, so edges may begin to chip out prematurely over other woods. Take care, Mike

Woods for cutting board - FineWoodworking
2021年11月29日 · This would not be a good response from using a cutting board. The general recommendations for cutting boards are to avoid open pored woods as much as possible. Cherry and maple are great, as they are closed pored. Walnut is marginal, as its pores are pretty small, tho visible. I also use walnut oil to finish my cutting boards. Seems like it ...
