Joe never said his Maserati did 185 miles an hour. He was singing about it doing 185 KILOMETERS an hour. He just didn't want to mention the word kilo in his song because Eric Clapton would go into some relapse each time he heard the song .

I 'created' the plate on the DMV website just to see if it was available (it was!). Problem is I can just imagine the cop that pulls me over with "Does 185" on my plates, motions me to roll down the window, and then, doing his best Joe Walsh impersonation, grins at me and sings...."You lost your license...now you can't drive".

My PA tag is "DOES 185", which, since it is located directly under the Maserati badge on the rear, usually elicits a few chuckles at the stop lights...and I often have to explain that it really only does 178...
