2020年8月19日 · This is a view that Komugi was seeing from the beginning. She couldn't see any light. To her, he was just Meruem. After all, those pages show us that he lost everything but gained what he trully wanted. He didn't need any soldiers, palaces, countries, power, strength, even his sight(as Komugi). He just wanted to play Gungi with Komugi.

2020年11月24日 · Meruem literally asked Komugi to hold his hand in his final moments and sounded so desperate when he asked Komugi to stay by his side, and Komugi basically committed suicide to be with him. Even the anime drew them as "in love" with all the cheesy stuff like pastel colours and bubbles around them and those typical anime love scenes.

It wasn't love in the traditional romantic sense. Meruem's entire arc was about his ant instincts clashing with his humanity. Komugi was a complete antithesis of him; weak, small, blind, and self-deprecating, but he still couldn't beat her at a simple board game. Komugi became analogous with humanity in Meruem's eyes, so to speak.
