If the recipe calls for a bit of salt, and unsalted butter, I use salted butter and don’t add salt. If it doesn’t call for salt, I still use salted butter instead of unsalted, and I love the results. The only time in 20 years of baking where I’ve ended up with overly salty baked goods is when I used Kerrygold salted instead of my usual types.

We used to spring for the Kerrygold, but since 75% of the time we're also slathering Bonne Maman overtop you can't tell the difference anyway.

2022年8月22日 · Just tried the Kirkland New Zealand Grass Fed butter and it tastes SO GOOD!! 10/10 recommend! I have tried the Kerrygold in the past but found their butter way too salty for my preferences; however, the New Zealand Grass Fed Butter did not taste as salty as the Kerrygold and has a richer taste in my opinion.

The Kirkland is higher fat and has the obvious grass fed character that you expect from grass fed dairy - something that most Americans are not used to. It is objectively a higher caliber of butter, but is pretty universally liked less than Kerrygold.

I think the results are saying that with the new packaging change, Kerrygold still has trace amounts of PFAS--lower than before but not gone. I would blame that on being a supertaster, but even my wife with a severely blunted sense of taste that never improved after COVID strongly thinks the same & she's the one that consumes more butter (some form of toast most mornings).
