Lots of people there are saying Kia Canada is replacing many of these engines for free, even when out of warranty.

2021年4月22日 · The regular 2.0 MPI with 147 hp has been used for quite a long time and is a reliable engine. There was also the 2.0 GDI engine. In the 1.st Generation, there were a number of these engines, which had problems as well as a few in 2014 and 2015 models. But even these, the vast majority runs without any problems.

Being that the Soul is one of Kia's best sellers, I believe that in the near future, there will have to be some sort of recall for this little black sheep engine.
