Khovd (Mongolian: Ховд [χɔ́ɸt]), formerly spelt Kobdo, [1] is the capital of the Khovd Province in western Mongolia. It is the administrative seat of the Jargalant District. Khovd is situated at the foot of the Altay Mountains, and is bisected by the Buyant River.
