Joske's, founded by German immigrant Julius Joske [1] in 1867, was a department store chain originally based in San Antonio, Texas. In December 1928, Hahn Department Stores acquired the company along with the Titche-Goettinger department store of Dallas, and three years later Hahn became part of Allied Stores.

2015年8月26日 · Joske’s Department Store was founded in 1869 by Julius Joske, a prominent Jewish merchant from Germany who came to San Antonio to escape religious persecution. Just after his arrival, he opened J. Joske Dry Goods on Main Plaza near the store of his brother-in-law.

1995年2月1日 · Joske's, formerly also known as J. Joske, Joske Brothers, and J. Joske and Sons, was headquartered in San Antonio and once owned twenty-six retail stores in Texas and one in Phoenix, Arizona.

Julius Joske, a German Jew, came to San Antonio in 1869 at the age of forty-four seeking a place to raise his family without fear of religious or ethnic persecution. He had learned commercial skills running his own store and from his wife’s family, prominent Prussian merchants named Wolfson.

2019年1月22日 · The Houston-based store left that building to move into a more modern structure down Main Street. The Joske's store was unique in that it only sold home furnishings.

2022年7月17日 · Joske’s and Sons was established by Julius Joske in 1857. By 1900, his son, Alexander, was sole owner. The family was one of the many influential entrepreneurial families in Central Texas of Jewish ancestry. Amongst them were the Joskes, the Franks (Frank & Bros.) and the Marcuses and Neimans (Neiman-Marcus).
