John Rolfe (c. 1585 – March 1622) was an English explorer, farmer and merchant. He is best known for being the husband of Pocahontas and the first settler in the colony of Virginia to successfully cultivate a tobacco crop for export.

2021年4月10日 · As with Pocahontas, John Rolfe’s cause of death is unknown. He is said to have died in 1622. His death roughly coincides with the Powhatan Indian attack (March 22, 1622) on the colonists, in which Rolfe's plantation at Bermuda Hundred was destroyed.

2024年8月26日 · With Captain Christopher Newport and William Strachey serving as witnesses, the girl was christened by the Reverend Richard Bucke on February 11, 1610, but she died soon after. Rolfe’s wife also died, either just before or after their arrival in Virginia on May 24, 1610. The following year, Rolfe began to experiment with cultivating tobacco.

John Rolfe died sometime in 1622. Although a third of the colony was killed in the Indian uprising of that year, it is not known how Rolfe died. In 2006, Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists working in a James Fort well discovered numerous seeds.
