I'm vaguely familiar with the Jon Hamm in sweatpants phenomenon but when I googled for ahem-- clarification, I can't say I found any images that were obviously the one you must be referring to. Surely it can't be so scandalous that it couldn't be shared on this sub?

2023年5月15日 · John Hamm is so good looking that when I imagine this copypasta, it seems like a totally reasonable thing to happen. He's so charming that even in my imagination I wouldn't notice anything strange. Like the opposite of that video where you don't notice the gorilla.

But Hamm decides to do it anyway because even thought it was a tiny role he would be hanging out with guys like Mel and Sam Elliott. After the movie wraps he goes to the premier and finds out that he's in the movie a lot more than he thought he'd be. Lot's of cutaways to him, plenty of reaction shots, etc.

It honestly seems like he's trying to find a balance. We can debate whether he's found it or not. We know if he focuses on one smaller thing at a time it can be truly great (Wind River, Sicario, Hell or High Water), but it looks like he's stretching himself thin enough to make a lot of good shows, rather than one or two great ones.
