John Joseph Grogan (/ ˈ ɡ r oʊ ɡ ən / GROH-gən; born March 20, 1957) is an American journalist and non-fiction writer. His memoir Marley & Me (2005) was a best-selling book about his family's dog, Marley.

On March 20, 1957, John Grogan was born in Detroit, Michigan. He discovered his interest in writing at a young age and pursued his passion at Central Michigan University, majoring in English and journalism. He worked as a journalist and columnist for many years.

John Grogan has spent more than 25 years as a newspaper journalist. Previously he worked as a reporter, bureau chief, and columnist at newspaper in Michigan and Florida. He is also the former editor on chief of Rodale's Organic Gardening magazine. His work has won numerous awards, including the National Press Club's Consumer Journalism Award.
