I found this post because I was looking for one of these hood ornaments to add to my new Wrangler. My granddad was Chuck Walker, the one that Walker Hill on the Rubicon is named for.

Jul 18, 2012 · To do a proper installation, you need to drill a hole in your hood and bolt the ornament down securely. See the bolt on the Marlin hood ornament in post #9. Good Luck, L.M. EDIT...I'd be sure to put some sort of a gasket between the ornament and the painted surface of the hood so that the metal of the ornament doesn't chip the paint and cause rust.

Oct 7, 2008 · You know, back in the "good ol' days" there was a huge demand for hood ornaments. Ford, Chevy, and especially Cadillac spent plenty of time and money designing a signature piece for their cars. These days, just about the only cars that have 'em are Jaguar and the occasional Mercedes.

Oct 7, 2008 · I think hood ornaments went away with hoods. I guess Jeeps and trucks still have hoods but in most cars you can't even see the hood from inside the car. My first car was an 1980 Malibu "Classic". It had a bow-tie hood ornament and my dads 86 1 ton Chevy had a hood ornament that had the engine size in it. Those days are gone.
