There appears to be two kinds: one is a semi-precious stone, a variety of chalcedony and another is the one used for polishing which I believe is compressed rouge. I have a triangular jasper stone in a pen-like case which certainly appears more like the latter.

2013年2月5日 · As far as jasper stones and ceramic stones, I feel what I said about arkansas stones also applies. I have many, and have used them quite abit. My coarse and fine sapphire files, and sapphire burnisher, and laps with abrasive - polishing compounds have pretty much replaced all my stones and slips for lathe watch work.

2016年7月25日 · The stones I mentioned I now know from the video are jasper slips, gave a very fine finish. I quit using them a few months ago except on the very hard pivots that will ruin an ordinary burnisher. The pivot was wiped off before the picture and was quite dry.
