Jane Sutherland (26 December 1853 – 25 July 1928) was an Australian landscape painter who was part of the pioneering plein-air movement in Australia, and a member of the Heidelberg School. Jane Sutherland, artist and teacher, was born on 26 December 1853 in New York. She was the eldest daughter, and was one of three daughters and five sons of George Sutherland, woodcarver of ship's figure-heads, and Jane Sutherland, nee Smith, both Scottish born.
