I have a 2001 Isuzu trooper with 140k on this transmission. This is the second factory transmission as the first went out under warranty at 95K. This one out of the blue, takes off very slow in drive, 1st, 2nd. but takes off fine in Reverse and thhe lowest gear.

I just picked up a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo, 4 wheel drive. It has a 5 speed manual transmission that is slipping. I would like to replace the clutch, but I am uncertain which transmission is in the Rodeo I purchased. Apparently, there are two different 5 speed tranny's for this year Rodeo. It is either the Mm5, or the Mau5c transmission.

Also, I went to a former Isuzu dealership, and a mechanic there offered to drain my fluid for $99, but mechanic said that "a lot" of old fluid will stay in the transmission system. Please let me know if I should ask specific questions before I let him drain and refill my transmission fluid.

I had a similar problem with my 2002 Rodeo. It wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I had to get the transmission replaced at the nearest mechanic shop. Isuzu wouldn't honor the warranty telling me I should have had it towed 50 miles to the dealer. I don't think the 6 month old in the car at the time would have liked riding in the tow truck.

After doing massive research on the 4L60e transmission (it is a GM standard transmission and is on many different types of cars and trucks, Isuzu, Honda, BMW, GM, Ford, etc.), I decided that I wanted to check and see if it is something outside or peripheral to the transmission as the second to last thing I want to do is rebuild a transmission.

2002 isuzu trooper v6 3.5 L two wheel drive . my trans overheat warning light comes on in drive and third gear drives fine unless the rpms are too high or too low any suggestions as to where I should begin diagnosis ?

Yeah I know how to replace the transmission fluid in a Isuzu trooper. The problem is I don't know what the recommended torque is for tightening the bolts around the transmission pan. I did a start pattern with a new gasket, but it still leaks. I am wondering about just puting some Lucas transmission gasket seal fluid in with the ATF.

The Isuzu dealership said the transmission was shot and would cost $4800 to rebuild. It is now at a transmission repair shop and I was told today it needs a transmission pump, but they have been found to have a high failure rate, aren't being made anymore and he cannot locate one. So I don't know when or if I will ever get it running.
