IL-9 is a pleiotropic cytokine produced in different amounts by a wide variety of cells including mast cells, NKT cells, Th2, Th17, Treg, ILC2, and Th9 cells. Th9 cells are considered to be the main CD4+ T cells that produce IL-9.
