We used it mostly to drill and ream cylinder head valve guides to install replaceable guides hence the two speed settings. The two finger type clamp is to hold a guide bushings for the core drill and reamer. We also used it to cut out for replacement valve seats. The one we had you could lift the knurled ring and remove the drive adapter.
