2004年8月12日 · I think a lot of people are using the wrong words to describe pen components. Maybe we need a Glossary of Terms in the Library so people can properly describe pen components. A nib is the writing portion of a fountain pen, not a ballpoint pen, not a rollerball, or any other kind of pen, and its not what you grab with your fingers.

The distance between the clip and the cap body also makes a difference on function in terms on how thick of a material a clip can go over. I make fountain pens only and most sales go to collectors who dont really use the clips in a pocket, they use sleeves and cases.

Fountain pen users typically write quite a bit, like in journals. Now that just opens a whole new oportunity, fountain pen users prefer paper that is acid free and neutral PH.

2004年8月22日 · Wide lines and wet ink comes from a couple of different sources. First, fountain pens take no pressure to write. Pressure expands the gap between the tines and that causes thick, wet lines. To test for this, hold your pen by supporting it only from beneath the barrel. Drag it across the paper.

I saw a pen over on the Fountain Pen Network with handmade bronze clip and rings that was very pretty. I imagine making the clip on this pen was not easy....looks like lots of hammering and filing and polishing...

2016年6月27日 · Keeping the pen nib-down is helpful. If you store the pen nib-up, ink gravity will force the ink out of the section and feed, and accelerate drying. Three questions: 1. What kind of nib are you using? I've had more trouble with fine nibs than with medium nibs.
