Livistona chinensis can get pretty fat trunks, so if you leave the one, you'll have the same problem with a larger palm a few years later. I would keep cutting all of them as low to the ground as possible and start over with a new palm 3 feet from the fence.

2020年2月27日 · I keep an exclusion zone around every palm trunk that I hand weed. It’s generally about 2 ft away from any palm. Beyond that I spray glyphosate on a non windy day (which you can count on one hand per year in windy old Albany). Glyphosate is absorbed through green soft parts of the plant and it translocates to the roots where it kills them.

2008年7月17日 · Whatever you choose to do, I'd act quickly. In my experience spider mites can knock down a palm very fast. In the future, if possible, take the palm outdoors and wash it down with water maybe once a month. Spider mites will not like the regular shower. This may be difficult to do with a 30-year old palm! How tall is it?

2007年9月18日 · In some cases of fungal attack on the bud resulting in a pulled spear, 10% bleach solution can be poured down the hole and not kill the palm, in fact save it. Many palms will suffer brown tipping with excess nutrient concentration or when root tips die due to lack of aeration/ waterlogging.

I live in Northern CA zone 9b out by the delta waterways. Upon removal of the dead palm tree, i noticed that an ant colony had moved in under the root ball of the palm.
