The fastest and cleanest method with little to no chip out is with your reciprocal saw and med to fine bi-metal blade. Hold firmly, keep it at high speed and allow the blade to cut through with moderate pressure. Don't force with a heavy hand otherwise it will begin to vibrate.

2003年8月18日 · Re: Remodel with old plaster walls Gary I ran into the same problem here in broolkyn,what we did is made channel for the electrician then filled in the patch with drywall.the plaster was thicker than 5/8 ' drywaal we used for the patch so we installed wire mesh over drywall,then applied stucco lite flush with old plaster then skim coated from there for our finish coat hope this helps worked ...

2007年10月4日 · Re: Trim to Plaster Depending on the thickness of the plaster, you might be able to get a 3/4" 18 ga. brad to hold w/ liquid nail and masking tape. If the plaster wants to "blow out" w/ the brad, just use the liquid nail and masking tape only.

2004年10月10日 · Re: Plaster/Sheetrock History Wood lath and plaster were replaced in the late forties by gypsum lath. In houses it was ususally 3/8" thick and the plaster including the finish is about a half inch. When drywall replaced plaster gypsum lath largely went out of use.

2013年4月6日 · Re: Veneer plaster patching: I have access from above. Where the water leaked, it caused the board to "cup" down and I can see that the board has pulled away from the strapping. That's why the 12" X 16" patch I am thinking of doing. Durabond is a consideration. I've cut a lot of holes in veneer plaster in my time.
