I'm curious because I'm an Env Engineer in government and have been looking to see what's there on the outside. The benefits are so great at my job (30 total days off, 9 day 70 hour pay period, health and dental, pension) and it really can't be matched anywhere else so it's hard to consider leaving, but the pay isn't great and it can get boring.

As an engineer, you can let your imagination run wild as you improvise and confront new situations. Engineering is, in fact, the ideal field for independent thinkers. Engineers work to design and build new things and/or work to make existing items or situations better, often coming up with solutions that are innovative and new.

Although engineers innovate, design, and build everything and make the world a better place, people care so little about engineers, especially in nations with a high number of engineers, such as the United States, India and China. The reason behind that is people mostly assume engineers are nerdy, weird, and antisocial.

Personalities tie into your physical appearance, so we can’t all look the same. However, I think there is more so a thing of “thinking like an engineer”. I’m civil and my dad is an electrical engineer and growing up he’d say he’s teaching us how to think like an engineer, and still reminds me now to.
