When you specify a distance the program creates a hole note with a depth callout, regardless of the material thickness (there are ways to correct this or to bypass it). Another reason you may have a depth that is larger than the material thickness is if your hole ends at another hole or similar cylindrical feature.

What sort of a process would it be to make what drawoh says here happen automatically. Would it be possible to modify the calloutformat.txt file to remove this line. I hate having to delete the drill info each time I insert a hole callout.

2006年11月13日 · Typically, the hole depth does not include the tip. If you specify a .250 diameter hole at .500 deep then the hole should be .250 for the entire length of .500. If the tip is included in this then this will not be the case. Adding the DO NOT BREAK THRU note is effective as well. The same goes for tapped holes.

2011年2月17日 · I cannot find ansi instructions on how to interpret depth callouts for holes on an angle. Typically I understand that the diameter has to meet the depth callout. (.095 dia x .125 deep) On an angle this means that there would have to be .125 of full .095 diameter correct? Where can I find this in a manual or standard?

2003年7月31日 · Right now I create a dimension of the hole depth (usually from a view where the hole is shown as hidden), remove the extension and arrow lines, then place the dimension (with needed appended text) in the callout under the hole size. This process, while tedious, worked fine in NX7.5, but I'm running into problems in NX9.
