Heat pump compressor failures - twice within 30 days
2018年8月28日 · The heat pump unit was installed brand new less than 6 years ago. The original compressor failed in July, and the dealer service replaced it (the part was under warranty, but the 5 year labor warranty had expired 6 months ago, so we still had to shell out $1200).

2021年6月7日 · My 26 year old Trane. heat pump compressor locked up--3 1/2 ton. Bids for 3 ton replacement were $5300, $7200, $8900 and $4100. Needless to say who installed the whole new system. Let me just say HVAC is a high profit margin business.

2023年4月15日 · Our first heat pump lasted 25 years, second one lasted 12 years, third one still ok at 5 years. Kinda like our first electric water heater lasted 30 years, second one now being replaced at 12 years. Running on just the heap pump with no resistance heat, the HP can keep us comfortable down to about 10'F.

2023年3月30日 · So there is no such thing as having separate A/C coil inside and a heat pump condenser inside. They are one in the same piece, just depending on which way the refrigerant flows from the compressor. Heat pump mode is just switching the condenser and evaporator functions from how they are in A/C mode. You also only have one outside compressor unit.

I paid $1250 buying directly from the US manufacturer, and this price included a long 33-ft refrigerant line due to the indoor and outdoor units being separated by a fair distance. This unit is to supplement the central AC of 5 tons (60,000 BTU/hr), and it works great to off-load the big unit.

I recently installed a Mr Cool 24K mini-split, and while it heats and cools the house fine, the thermostat controls are horrible. It comes with a remote control, a wall mount "mini-stat", or an app you use on your phone.

The indoor unit is mounted high to produce good vertical air circulation in summer and to maximise space at floor level. Winter vertical air circulation is less resulting in increased vertical air temperature stratification.

I have two mini-splits for the ground floor, and I installed them myself. I bought the tools to be able to service them (vacuum pump, pressure gauges, torque wrench for refrigerant fittings).
