The barrel blanks all start out the same so in theory should all cost the same but time on the lathe would equal less productivity and increased tooling costs and labor costs ...

2024年11月14日 · Just to see if the problem could be duplicated with a different barrel, I temporarily replaced the Colt HBAR barrel with a DTI HBAR same 1-9". Group issues happened same way: Tight, large, then tight etc. Removed barrel and lapped upper receiver. Reinstalled Original Colt HBAR barrel. Shot multiple 10rnd groups that are now tight and consistent.

2008年6月27日 · TRY an HBar standing. The muzzle heaviness is tiresome, and it makes the AR loose it balance and handiness. Actually hold a sight picture and squeeze off a dry snap. The HBar is just too damn heavy for most purposes save for Service Rifle. My first AR was an HBar, and it was also a huge disappointment. Moon

2017年2月16日 · I've recently acquired an AR15 A2 style rifle. The upper is a Bushmaster HBAR. I've read that the Gov't profile barrel is 16 oz's lighter than an hbar. I scaled it the other day with a loaded 20 rnd. mag, and it weighed in around 9 1/2 lbs.

2005年9月14日 · I used to have a HBAR but sold it. There was not much difference in accuracy with my other 20" Gov't profiled rifle. The HBAR's balance and weight is better for target shooting like in CMP competition. I'm going to get another HBAR later on but with a good quality match barrel and FF handguards.

2025年1月24日 · HBAR profile was less expensive to produce because less machine time was necessary, but I suspect buyers are better informed and demand is lower. I recall in the 80's and 90's Colt used to advertise them like it was a premium feature.

2008年11月3日 · The difference in a standard HBAR vs M4 profile is right at 8oz. A Socom profile is right at 4 oz if the cuts are there under the handguard, closer to 5 without the under handguard cuts depending on the individual profle (where the chamber area tapers, does it have the forward notch for the grnade launcher vs straight .74" etc).

2004年8月17日 · I HATE my 20" Hbar! It is way too front heavy and takes too long to cool off. Infact I am going to order a Govt. Profile to replace it after the ban is gone. I do however have a fluted 20" Hbar and it is MUCH better! It is much more balanced.

2010年3月1日 · Fluted barrels are awesome..I dont like the look of fluting but with the scalopped grooves you get just as much barrel stiffness and actually more surface area than it would have had even as an HBAR so it cools like a lightweight barrel.So like an HBAR fluted barrels give the same benefits with less weight and quicker cooling.
