Dr Han Cheng commenced his appointment as Max Weber Foundation Research Fellow with the Inter-Asia Engagements Cluster with effect from 10 April 2023, as part of the Asian Infrastructures research partnership with the German Institute for Japanese Studies.

Han Cheng is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His ongoing project examines Global China as a critical intellectual project, focusing on the (re)emergence of Chinese development–area studies, world regional geography, and overseas ethnography.
