What is HURCON? The term HURCON is short for Hurricane Condition. HURCONs are used by the Department of Defense (and other Federal Agencies) to calculate the time to the onset of a hurricane. Department of the Air Force guidance is Air Force Manual 10-206 “Operational Reporting”. The definition of each is:
