On November 23, 2021, the world lost long-time Burton rider and dear friend Marko "Grilo" Grilc in a tragic snowboarding accident while filming in Sölden, Austria. Born in Slovenia, Marko worked his way up the Burton ranks from the age of 14 to be one of the most veteran riders on the team.

2021年11月24日 · Marko “Grilo” Grilc has sadly passed away during a tragic accident while filming in Sölden, Austria. Marko grew up in Slovenia and landed his first sponsorship at the age of 14. With limited riding opportunities at home, he ventured to eastern Austria to hone his craft.

Marko Grilc (7 July 1983 – 23 November 2021) was a Slovenian professional snowboarder and social media personality. He died in a snowboarding accident while exploring the terrain at the Austrian ski resort of Sölden with a filming team. Some media outlets initially reported that he died of a head injury while not wearing a helmet.
