Pharmacy either makes a lot less money, or straight up loses money for filling the prescription. So patient copay - cost of drug for the pharmacy - GoodRx cut = profit/loss.

Example is regular GoodRx (access to many contracts), insiderx.com (owned by express scripts), Optum Perks (owned by UHC/optum) Capital Rx (NADAC pricing model from a small PBM) The type that is a branded discount card that a pharmacy would have to voluntarily accept the discount contract and accept the fee related to the card.

So I get tadalafil from my primary care doc and fill it using coupon for GoodRx. I’ve gotten 90 5mg pills for between 20-40 cents a pill. Not sure why the price swings so much and I’ve seen cheaper but at these prices it’s just not worth it to drive all around so I just stick with the grocery store pharmacy and get these rates.

Costs 19.99 for the appointment but hen you get the prescription filled at your local pharmacy for cheap. Gave me a 60 day prescription plus two refills and it was under 10 bucks at the pharmacy to have it filed.
