DIY glycol cooling? - Homebrew Talk
2009年10月12日 · Don't get me wrong, glycol is awesome for cooling and I love mine, but it has a few downsides. If you do go that route, for me bending the copper carrying the glycol was not easy. Once in a tight coil it becomes pretty ridged and I …
Glycol through Therminator/Plate Chiller: big batches
2008年1月3日 · Here are some rough numbers for the glycol cooling systems for cooling 51 gallons of wort from 210 degrees to 65 degrees 1. All glycol at 40 degrees F starting temp, about 55 gallons at ideal heat exchange conditions. 2. Water pre cool to 100 degrees, Glycol to 65 degrees F., about 37 gallons at ideal exchange.
Anvil fermentor cooling system review and glycol chiller attempt
2013年3月19日 · The benefit to Glycol is that it has a freezing point at -74 degrees Fahrenheit, WAY lower than a freezer can get down to. So the colder you can get the Glycol, the more efficiently it will cool whatever system you're working with, and the fewer the chances for the reservoir heating up due to recirculation. Sorry if any of this is old news to you.
Glycol beer line chiller - Homebrew Talk
2011年1月11日 · The first iteration of my glycol cooling was a tank in the keezer. That didn't work for crap! The temperature of the glycol would just slowly climb to only a degree or two below ambient. I tried a one gallon glass jug, and a five gallon plastic pail. Neither worked and frankly, I didn't really want to sacrifice space in the keezer anyway.
DIY Glycol Chiller system (fermentor external) - Homebrew Talk
2011年4月17日 · Adding glycol cooling system to exterior of an existing stainless fermentor and detachable from cooling unit. Kept cooling coils outside of fermentor for ease of maintenance/cleaning. Setup is easily capable of -20F below ambient, can probably do another -20 if needed. Overall very easy to do, a level 2+ project on the HBT DIY Project Locator.
Glycol Chiller Doesn't Cool Below 43F/6C - Homebrew Talk
2023年4月5日 · Cooling the glycol to no less than 28F; Cooling in stages to prevent ice build-up, 10°F at a time; Being between brews, I just completed a water test. I filled the chiller with 6gal, just covering the thermo-well, and set the temp to 38F. No ice formed (good), but it never went below 43F (bad).
Glycol chiller and counterflow chiller? - Homebrew Talk
2020年3月24日 · I made a glycol chiller from a cooler and and AC, filled with 2 gallons of glycol and 4 gallons of water. I run the glycol through a CFC using a submersible pump to circulate the glycol in the cooler and another pump to circulate through the CFC.
Glycol vs Water for line cooling - Homebrew Talk
2010年1月12日 · I'm not sure what the most popular glycol is for brewing, but a 50/50 mix of ethylene glycol and water has a freezing point of -45F or so. That's lower than any freezer goes. A 50/50 mix actually has a lower heat capacity than water (0.8 BTU/(lb*F) vs. 1.0 BTU/(lb*F) for water), which means that you'll need both more glycol as well as a high ...
DIY glycol chilled plastic conical fermenters - Homebrew Talk
2012年11月8日 · Heated via flexwatt heat tape and cooled via glycol. Why three fermenters? The BCS-460 only supports 4 temp probes and I need one for the glycol. So, max size of 3 fermenters. The Air conditioner I'm using should support more than that though. The glycol system I'm building is completely hacked together based on an old BYO article. I uses a re ...
DIY Tri-Clamp Cooling Coils For Glycol Setup? - Homebrew Talk
2020年5月5日 · Has anyone ever rigged up a DIY set of cooling coils for use with a glycol chiller? If so, what did you do? I had a couple of different ideas, but as someone decidedly lacking in skills or experience, I'd rather hear about what actually worked before initiating hack and slash operations. I couldn't find anything searching HBT or Reddit.
