2022年1月6日 · As a whiskey drinker who converted to gin, I make my martinis essentially exactly as you make a Manhattan. 2 oz liquor, 1 oz vermouth, 2 dashes bitters. For a martini, I go whatever gin I have on hand, orange bitters and Dolin dry vermouth. For what it's worth though, I happen to like Martini and Rossi.

For a dirty gin martini bartenders choice I usually do a Mediterranean style gin like Gin mare or Mahon 2 oz Gin mare .5 oz 1888 olive juice or whatever brine comes with your olives. For base dirty, .25 oz for lightly dirty, .75 for extra dirty so on. Shake, single strain

2019年2月25日 · Weirdly enough the very best martini I've ever had at a bar was aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Sun. They have a bar inside of their atrium and the bartender made the perfect dry gin martini: chilled glass, perfect vermouth rinse with just a bit left in the glass and calmly stirred Beefeater with the right amount of dilution.

A dry martini usually starts at around a 4:1 or 5:1 ratio. Seems like no one understands the difference between a wet martini vs dry martini vs extra dry. That being said I prefer a range of 5:1 to 8:1. The latter usually being my go to. I find it compliments the gin just enough and has a balanced taste while letting the gin flavor still shine.

2022年1月11日 · Just because I’m a jerk who likes a good discussion, I might argue that gin fizzes intentionally soften the gin, kind of opposite of how you treat it in a martini. I’ve read that egg whites have a “fat wash” effect on liquor, which is why it’s so smooth in a whiskey sour, and why gin fizzes are soft and creamy.
