Garmin will start migrating on December 1, 2024. If you are on the new plan you can change between any plan without having to pay the activation fee.

2024年9月18日 · Once the one-year contract has been met, your service is not terminated as these are safety devices. The plan will renew every month until you cancel. Existing customers with inReach Annual Contract subscription plans will not be migrated into new plans, and can remain in their current plan unless they choose to change it.

2024年9月19日 · In the FAQ on the new inReach plans I was not able to find what happens when a suspended Freedom plan is migrated to the new plans (this happens starting December 2024 on the next annual renewal date of a Freedom plan). So I asked Garmin Support via chat, and the answer was that suspended Freedom plans will be migrated to the Enabled State.

2024年10月4日 · According to the FAQ on the new inReach plans, a change to Enabled this happens immediately and is pro-rated, which means that the amount you paid for your current plan is credited for the remainder of your billing cycle. The difference between the cost of the Enabled plan and the pro-rated amount is charged to your account.

We are thinking of changing our Globalstar phone to the Garmin inReach one. One of the main reasons is cost as the phone is really used just for the in case scenarios. I have a few questions about the plans they have. From what I understand, there is an annual activation fee. From what I see it's $29.95 canadian a year.
