The designations GBU-29/B and GBU-30/B were reserved for 2000 lb (GBU-29) and 1000 lb (GBU-30) class JDAM bombs with guidance kits from Martin Marietta. Because Martin Marietta lost the JDAM competition, no GBU-29 and -30 bombs were produced.

2011年7月7日 · GBU-30 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) The first US order for the GBU-30, using the the smaller 500-lb. Mk. 82 bomb, is expected to be a 2003 contract for deliveries in 2004.

The GBU-30 bomb uses a 500-lb Mk-82 or BLU-111/B warhead to destroy general targets. Boeing delivered the 100,000th JDAM tail kit on December 2, 2004, to the US military since production started in 1998.

JDAM variants for the Mk-80 250-pound and Mk-81 500-pound bombs are designated GBU-29 and GBU-30, respectively. The JDAM will be continuously updated by aircraft avionics systems prior to release. Once released, the bomb's INS/GPS will take over and guide the bomb to its target regardless of weather.
