The GAZ-24 "Volga" is a car manufactured by the Gorky Automobile Plant (Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod, GAZ) from 1970 to 1985 as a generation of its Volga marque. A largely redesigned version (practically, a new car in a modified old body) – GAZ-24-10 – was produced from 1985 to 1992.

The car started to be built on the GAZ plant’s main assembly line late in 1969, simultaneously with the continuing assembly of the old model. Finally, on July, 15th 1970 the last GAZ-21 rolled off the assembly line, leaving GAZ-24 as the only model of passenger car produced by the factory.

GAZ 24 is a Soviet middle class passenger car, which was manufactured in series at the enterprise in the city of Gorky in the period from 1969 to 1992. The Soviet passenger car was considered a symbol of the era of its years, and it was also a prestigious model, on which officials and representatives of government agencies moved.

La GAZ-24 ha ricevuto pochi cambiamenti durante la sua produzione, ma è rimasto per lo più di successo, sia sul mercato interno che su quello di esportazione. Therefore GAZ-23 evolved into a GAZ-2424 in 1968. For the team of restorers of "Avtoklassika" it is not something new to bring "Volga" to life on the special purpose. The successful implementation of the previous project inspired the restoration of another “chaser”.
