Kelsay Parrott was FTTTF’s first scholarship recipient from the state of Iowa and is the 2018 recipient of the Barbara Latenser Memorial Scholarship. As a young girl, Kelsay suffered severe burns in a simple effort to blow out a candle on a birthday cake.

From Tragedy to Triumph ... The birth of a 501(c)(3) organization. In addition to providing emotional support to burn survivors and their families, From Tragedy to Triumph provides financial support through scholarships to young people once traumatized by burn injuries, so they may pursue collegiate education.

The goal of the From Tragedy to Triumph Foundation is to help young burn survivors achieve a social confidence and meet their educational goals. The major focus of the Tragedy to Triumph Foundation is to provide funds for those with financial need when they are accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution.

The 2016 Barbara Letenser memorial scholarship award winner, Jessica Herrejon, was scalded with boiling water at just five years old.
