Together with the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Folk Art Center was built. Today, it holds a craft shop, library, three exhibition spaces, an auditorium for special events, and a National Park Service bookstore and information desk.

The Folk Art Center, located on the Blue Ridge Parkway showcases the finest in traditional and contemporary craft of the Southern Appalachians. It houses Southern Highland Craft Guild exhibitions, a library, and work of Guild artisans.

In season, daily craft demonstrations give visitors the chance to see folk art being made and to talk to the craftsmen as they work. Year-round, visitors can wander through the modern folk art gallery or chat with a ranger.

We invite you to walk through our permanent collection of historical, archived, Appalachian craft at the Folk Art Center. This exhibit of approximately 250 works features woodcarving, textiles, furniture, basketry, pottery, dolls, and other crafts of Southern Appalachia, dating from 1855 to the late 20th century.

2024年5月11日 · The Folk Art Center is the most popular attraction on the Blue Ridge Parkway, welcoming 250,000 visitors each year. It also houses a Parkway Store with National Park souvenirs and travel information. Just two miles south is the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center.
