Difference between development and embedment - Eng-Tips
2009年2月1日 · I have a question regarding the difference between development and embedment. I'm not sure I'm understanding the difference between the two. From ACI 530-08 2.1.9.3 (Development of bars in tension) and 2.1.9.4 (embedment of flexural reinforcement). What exactly is the difference? Let's say I have a beam with max moment at the center.

I have a triangular base plate (for a 10-ft pylon) with 3 anchor bolts at 2-3/4" embedment on an exiting slab. We just found out that because of rebars and conduits in the slab, we can't have the required 2-3/4" embedment at all 3 locations. One of the anchors will have to have a 1-1/2" embedment. Hilti does not have data on such shallow embedment.

2000年12月29日 · In my own specifications, I require a depth of embedment such that the bar develops 125% of yield strength (ala ACI 318-05, 12.14.3.2). In doing this, I am basically saying that I want the same kind of reliability/capacity from an adhesive anchor that I would expect from a mechanical anchor.

2011年5月25日 · The IBC section 1911 (2009 edition) has a table for ASD that list a 1" anchor bolt with 7" embedment. Like ztengguy, I would probably use 6" of embedment unless there was some other constraint. Or, I would use the 7" embedment with 5.3 kip ASD shear capacity per the IBC rather than calculating capacity with ACI-318 appendix D.

2008年6月3日 · I am trying to find the calculation to figure out the minimum embedment needed. A project of ours has had the foundations poured and the GC noticed that all the Anchorbolts are extending anywhere from 5-1/2" to 8-1/2" above finished grade when only 3" was specified. All Bolts were suppose to be 1'10" embedment and know they are not.

For high moment at the embedment, the tension component of the couple created in the concrete can be quite high and will require auxiliary reinforcement with a loop or hairpin bar wrapping each embedment area.

2010年1月14日 · Apparently the cast in place type do not break out a cone the same way as the epoxy type and I can't just put a plate on the bottom of the anchor and expect a cone failure. I could easily calculate the surface area of the cone and apply sqrt(Fc) for shear strength and determine a required embedment depth. Sigh.
