2022年4月9日 · Native Village of Eklutna Mission Statement. To empower Idlughet Qayeht’ana (Eklutna Village Dena’ina) by promoting the history, culture and identity of our sovereign nation, and to assist in the education and well-being of our Tribe.

We have two active Youth Groups, one based at Eklutna Village (one of our historical places) and another based in Anchorage (where we have many historical places).

The Eklutna Native Village government office was organized in 1961 by the traditional people of Eklutna Village in order to be recognized for protecting land rights. By then, the 326,000 acre Eklutna Reservation had been reduced over the years to a mere 1,819 acres.

In September 2021, water was released from the upper Eklutna Dam, wetting a dry river channel. This event was not only symbolic to NVE’s River Restoration efforts, but had a large cultural significance as well.

Aaron Leggett was elected President of Native Village of Eklutna on Saturday, January 27, 2018, by an unprecedented write-in vote with a 41% quorum established. He was nominated from the floor at the meeting to be President.

The Eklutna Tribal Conservation District (ETCD) serves the area in the blue outline on this map. We cover all of the Anchorage Bowl and most of the Mat-Su Valley. We serve the two largest populated areas in Alaska – serving over 400,000 people.
