Jan 12, 2019 · I've had a 6 for years and loved everything about it but the stupid choil -- now I have a 6HM and love it even better. there was a limited run of 6HM's with G10 and a black oxide tumbled finish this fall, you may still be able to score one of those direct from ESEE.

Apr 2, 2018 · It’s a solid iteration of the french trade knife. The 6 inch blade is sturdy and stay sharp for a long time when working wood. I had the old model Esee 6 but did not like the choil or blocky handles so the HM midel fixes both issues and has a nice leather sheath as a plus !

Nov 23, 2019 · The ESEE 6 is better at chopping and the 6HM is better at carving, although both can do either. Frankly, both are too large to be good carvers but it does work with some effort. Both are quite comfortable, and the custom scales on the ESEE 6 make that one the winner for me. I figured I’d challenge myself by trying to carve a try stick.
