From the photos you submitted it appears that they are partially exposed and may require removal of gingiva prior to restoration with crowns. Without the healing cpas inplace, the implant is exposed to the environment, thereby running the risk of conamination or damage fro food stuffs during chewing.During the healing process the tissue will grow over the exposed implant if a healing cap isd not in place.

Your healing site looks very normal. As with any surgical or injury location, blood clot formation or bruising can cause the tissues to appear different until full healing has taken place. Within about 2 weeks your gum tissue should return to a healthy pink color.

Aug 25, 2015 · It sounds like the dental implant is fine, but the healing abutment has fallen out. I would call your surgeon and have this screwed back in as soon as you can. The main reason for this is to keep the tissue from growing over the implant causing an unnecessary surgery to be needed. Get it done now and save yourself a future procedure. Good luck.
