Although Nerd Cat, Kotatsu Cat, and Swimmer Cat are pretty useful all throughout the game, given that you get their true form. If you are in ITF however, Surfer Cat is an incredibly helpful unit. Miter Saw Cat is also rather nice in ITF but is pretty much useless against non alien enemies. For zombie stages, Vaulter Cat is a go to.
