By Lewis Roy – It’s easy and economical to make a homemade sheep feeding trough for my flock when they are out to pasture. I’ve been making this type of sheep feeding trough for as long as I’ve been raising sheep. I use 8 inch light sewer pipe to make sheep feeding troughs.

Sheep feeders are usually made at home by the farmers themselves, since it is very difficult to find suitable containers for food, and if you do find it, it will not be cheap. That is why it is easier to build a structure with your own hands from improvised means.

The water tanks are knackered and too big and high anyway so going to rig something up for sheep. Thinking something small like bowl drinkers but have heard bad things about them forever leaking. I was just wondering what other folks had found to work well for sheep.

The water needs for sheep are very low d uring grazing season when the grass is relatively lush, during wet weather, and when sheep don’t raise lambs. It is entirely possible that my flock of sheep doesn’t drink a drop of water on wetter or cooler grazing days.
