The consensus, and to some degree my experience, is that the stove is pretty inefficient with wood. It would appear that the stove is not very air tight, and the bottom grill is really intended for coal which requires more air.

Read the webpage, you'll realize 1950's is NEW for a coal stove, because by that time oil had taken over most of the market, and they were making fewer coal stoves. The heyday of the coal stove was 1850-1950 era.

2008年4月27日 · Hello, I recently purchased a Harman E CW 30 from a friend. You are correct that it is a great wood/coal stove. I burn wood in the evening and over night, then I throw coal in it all day while I am at work. When I get home it is back to wood. It works great. I have it in the basement, and it basically heats my whole house. I live in central PA.

2001年10月5日 · What is the proper temperature for a chimney with a coal stove. The thermometer on the chimney registers between 200 and 250 degrees . The chimgard energy meter says that the chimney temp should be between 275 and 450 degrees. The temp on top of the stove is 450 to 475 degrees. This stove is a Riteway model 37.
