A third of all children in Liberia are young children – under the age of 5. Though much has improved in child survival and development in Liberia over the years, many children are still not getting the support they need in early life.

Our strategic objectives align with what we need to do to achieve for children in Liberia. The objectives include Education, Health & Nutrition, Child Protection, Food Security and Livelihoods and in some cases humanitarian response.

The Children law, which has been approved and launched by the President of Liberia, marks a firm commitment on behalf of the Government of Liberia to the domestication of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. In Liberia, UNICEF is helping to build a comprehensive child protection system to keep children safe. This means supporting the implementation of laws, especially the Children’s Law, and relevant policies, regulations and services that protect children from harm, and that respond to, and support victims and survivors.
