The CD63 gene is located on human chromosome 12q13 and encodes a protein of 237 amino acids. The CD63 protein structure includes N-terminal and C-terminal cytoplasmic domains, as well as two cytoplasmic loop domains (domain 2 and domain 3) between the transmembrane regions, and two extracellular loop domains.
